Our Story

Pure honey from the edge of Dartmoor.

From hive to jar

Dartmoor Native Bees began in Peter Tavy, a small village on the western edge of Dartmoor, where our hives sit within reach of open moorland, gorse-lined lanes and quiet hedgerows.

Our bees are native to this landscape, bred for the damp, changeable weather of West Devon and left to forage as they always have — across heather, bramble and wildflower, with the granite tors of the moor rising behind them.

We take only what the hives can spare, harvesting by hand and bottling in small batches so the honey keeps the character of the season it came from — light and floral in early summer, richer and darker as the heather comes into bloom.

Nothing is added and nothing is rushed. What reaches your table is raw, gently strained honey — coarse-sieved to remove wax and debris, with the pollen intact, much as the bees themselves left it.

Prize-winning honey

In summer 2026 our clear honey was awarded 1st Prize at the Peter Tavy Fete — judged and enjoyed in the very village where it is made.
